It is said that once one could walk from Cambridge to Oxford crossing only Trinity land. Start outside the gatehouse on Trinity Street: Henry VIII founded the college in 1546 by merging two existing ones. His statue stands proud; below him, the coat-of-arms of Edward III, founder of one of the earlier institutions, and below that, the shields of his sons. Look especially at the feathers of the Prince of Wales, still used by Prince Charles today, and a blank shield–Edward's youngest son died in infancy. To the right of the gatehouse, an apple descended from the tree which prompted Isaac Newton to make his theory of gravity.NYC Best Hotel Deals: 50% Savings In New York! All Saints Garden Craft Fair
Ongoing
This unique market is located in a beautiful setting. The market has been running for over 30 years and is popular with tourists and residents alike thanks to its friendly, welcoming atmosphere, right opposite Trinity College. Everything from jewelery, pottery, sculpture, photos and prints, paintings, clothing and cheeses is available at the All Saints Garden Craft Fair. Visitors often come across artists at work by their stalls and this is the best place in Cambridge to come by fresh designs and works direct from the creators themselves! The market is generally open on Saturdays, though at busier times of the year it may also be open on Fridays and other days of the week. Check website for more details.
