Does Capones need concrete shoes?
If Capone was alive today, the owner of the eatery in Taipei may well find himself wearing a pair of concrete shoes? A promising facade turns into a disappointing affair. I chose the garlic bread to start which was like eating cardboard. This was followed by a pizza which was little more than average (who could resist an offer of cheese powder (parmesan) - good help us). In all the experience was disappointing which is a shame as this place could be something special. I would recommend the owner watches "Restaurant Makeover" as this may be the only way to rectify what is a very tired affair.

Taste of Italy in Taiwan
I went to this restaurant after reading some good reviews on yahoo, and I must say I certainly wasn't disappointed. The look of Capone's is great, a low lighted place with a candle in the middle of every table. The music is great, both the CD and the live performance compliment the look and feel with classic jazz and swing songs. There is one thing which makes Capone's brilliant, and thats the huge Menu. It has a big menu with a great seletion.

Wow it is Italian
Last time I went to Capone's I left angry that was in 2004. Visiting Taipei again, my supplier insisted to take us there. Apparently there was an change in ownership in the meantime. Italian Chef (not sure if he is the owner), outstanding food, esp. the pizzas, great music. The service was friendly but not overly competent.

Arguing-not for me
My wife and I decided one night to try out Capones. Having heard that it served Italian fare, I was game. The food was typical Chinese Italian, but what really turned us off was that the owner, was drunk and arguing with his empolyees and slobbering and stumbling into the table next to us. Now, I'm all for a casual and easy going type setting, but his was ridiculas.

Worth it for the bar but the food was so so...
The bar is better than the food, Portions are big but not the “classic” Italian fare you would expect in a Chicago, NY or Boston restaurant like Veal Parm, Ziti with Meat Sauce, Meatballs, etc. etc. Nice wine selection, Hip atmosphere. No music on the night I was there but set up looks ready to groove.
