The Star has been an inn since before the 17th century, but according to local legend, its popularity dates from the moment in 1750 that Frederick, Prince of Wales, skinny-dipped in the Solent. Southampton suddenly became a fashionable place for royal holidays and the inn began to do a roaring trade. The most famous guest was Princess Victoria, who stayed at the hotel when she visited the city to open the Pier in 1833. Today, visitors to the Star are offered a restaurant, bar, four-poster bedrooms, ensuite facilities and an excellent location in the heart of the city centre.NYC Best Hotel Deals: 50% Savings In New York!
