This is the oldest and one of the most historic pubs in Southampton. The trials of a group of men who plotted against Henry V in 1415, known as the Southampton plot, allegedly took place here. The early 15th century court room in which the trials are said to have taken place has been preserved and there is even a medieval menu. Shakespeare apparently once popped in for a pint and then wrote about the Southampton plot in Henry V, Act II, Scene 2.

Best for Food and Drinks in Southampton
I have been to many places in southampton, and came across the Red Lion. It's a friendly and you always feel welcome. The drinks are normal pub prices, as you would expect. Then there is the food, I have never found a plave where the food is alway top quality and very reasonably priced.
