A very moving experience!
Punchbowl is sacred ground honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in military service to our country. Located in the crater of a volcano, the National Cemetery of the Pacific is the final resting place of those who lost their lives during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

A really emotional place! Really reminds you of how many people have paid the ultimate cost for our country! Little irrating that they are out of room, and they found room to bury some congress woman who protested the wars. But whatever

My visit to the Memorial Cemetary in Honolulu
I went last October to the cemetary. I was 2 years old (and I am 65 years old now) when my father Bill was killed in a shipping accident during WWII in Hawaii. I had wanted to viist there my whole life. My daughter, age 37, my granddaughter age 6, a friend of mine and my daughter's husband went together. We put flowers on my father's grave. I was so impressed with the Punch Bowl Memorial Cemetary. It was clean and just beautiful. I am so glad my dad is buried there. Everyday tour buses go through there. What a blessing for me and my family.

Beautiful, Historical, and Free
This is a good tour for those on a budget or those who like history. Dont bother w/ the bus tours if you have rented a car you can drive yourself there for free. Just get a good map! The lookout over Honolulu is beautiful.

A Beautiful and Peaceful Cemetery
This cemetery is absolutely beautiful with so much history within. When a memorial ceremony takes place, so many come to show love and appreciation for our military loved ones who've passed. The pride of the military definitely is thick in the air of this cemetery.

Good bye Dad
I just returned after inurnment of my Dad on 8-16-07 who served in the Pacific with the Navy (1943-1945. He will remain in the most beautiful place in the world, as safe as yesterday. The Navy Honor Guard dignified this moment with Taps and presentation of our country's flag on behalf of the President and a grateful nation. Please include the niche gardens on your tour and say hello to Eric F. Wilkinson, S-3, LCI(G) 751. This beautiful place is a link to the best of who we are as a people, and as a country. Walk through the memorial, be inspired by it, then take its beauty and meaning and go back home to make a difference in your own way.

Extremely impressive and emotional.
What a beautiful place. My family and I enjoyed the walk to the top of the stairs, the chapel at the top as well as viewing the maps of the various battles. The view from the top is amazing.

National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl, Honolulu
We went up here after hearing about this at the USS Arizona memorial. The drive was really nice, with views all along the way. It was November and the flowers were in full bloom. The cemetery was very peacful, as it should be. We were wondering what to do at first and then we found the memorials with names listed from WWII. There are 10's of thousands. Our last name was listed many times. Each name has a rank and duty. Lots of young people. It's a quiet place and we saw only about 5 other people there. The drive through the poorer areas of Honolulu to the entrance was a reality check. Not everywhere on Oahu is sun and fun.
