In 1895 Daniel Swarovski I moved to Wattens in Tirol. He founded the Swarovski family business which later achieved fame not only throughout Austria but also worldwide. On the occasion of the firm's centenary, André Heller and other artists like Brian Eno and Susanne Schmogner created a place where crystal could be observed and admired. This place is marked by a giant spouting water. A mini-lake lies at his feet. The visitor can actually climb inside the giant and look at the crystal at close range. There are in fact seven subterranean chambers from which strange and magical crystal forms can be viewed. The combination of wondrous colours and music has an entrancing effect. This highly unorthodox museum is surrounded by a fantasmagorical park with a mountain brook, wild roses in a lake and the only non-artificial labyrinth in Tirol (in the shape of a hand).
