The impressive Porta Saragozza was built in 1860 upon the remains of its medieval precursor. It was designed by Enrico Brunetti Rodati. The gate is made up of two large towers topped with battlements. Between the two towers there are three arcades. One of the two towers contains the Cassero. This is home to Bologna's gay association. The Cassero has a beautiful terrace which is open throughout the summer.
