This meuseum has some of the best exhibits of any meuseum in South-East Asia. Indonesia is such an historically rich country that this meuseum has exhibts others would die for.

national museum or museum gajah (the elephant museum),as the jakartans dub it because there's a white elephant statue -a gift from a Thai king/prince- in front of the building, is one of the few museums in Jakarta that are easy to access. located in the center of the city and close to monas, it's a perfect place for tourists or even curious citizens to take a historical journey. it also hosts big events, like art exhibitions. the last one i saw was the tribe art/julian opie exhibition.

The National Museum has a fine collection of statues and cultural artifacts. Also make sure you check out the collection of gold items in the treasure room upstairs,
