Sponsored by the Los Angeles Times, this festival is held on the UCLA campus each year in late April, and has quickly become one of the largest literary events in the nation. Every year, you can count on hundreds of authors and publishers in attendance. In addition to booths showcasing recent books in every genre, there are scheduled talks and discussions featuring others around the clock. Most of these are free, but a few of the bigger names speak in one of the university's many auditoriums. Tickets to these special events often sell out early, so try to buy tickets through Ticketmaster. Admission: Free
