Back to Governor Hotel (The) Good Times at the Governor The Governor has history and beauty and an old style charm. The food at Jakes (the downstairs restaurant)is good and the hotel is very clean and in the heart of town. The parking fee is a bit much (but that is typical of that area - the hotel 2 blocks down is about the same). The gym is well-stocked and easy to access. For fun, take the elevator behind the reservation counter at Jakes - it's cool.
Reviewed by: Jason S from on Jun 05 2008 location was perfect The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.
Reviewed by: pradeep from on Oct 06 2007 Excellent A lovely hotel, well appointed, with an incredible staff. Really, the staff was beyond compare...friendly, attentive and always helpful. The health club was also great, with the best equipment I have seen in a hotel.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 26 2006 restaurant jakes @ the govoner I have just moved here form Scottsdale, Arizona and have been at Jakes at the govoner hotel 3 times and have been sorley dissapointed in the food. The food is average at best. The service has always been by a career server that always looks down at his nose at me. All 3 times I have had to get up and refill my own water glass. The last time was the straw that broke the camels back. Went in for lunch and I overheard my server complain to another server how upset he was about the hostes seating him with a one top that probably wouldnt tip anyway. He droped my food off incomplete and that was the last time I saw him until he dropped off the check. The staff is rude to each other and the restaurant sounds like there is a dish throwing contest.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 29 2006 Fabulous hotel! We had a large 6th floor room with a fireplace. Very nicely appointed with skylights and high windows. No view, but the fireplace made up for that on a cold February night. Nicely appointed bathroom and very friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 27 2006 Would stay again We loved the Governor's Hotel for the ambiance, staff, and location in old town. Everything we wanted to do was very close-shopping and eating. The food was great at Jake's Grill- great bar. Had breakfast there too.

We decided to stay at the governor because of their recent renovation. it was amazing! fabulous fresh guest rooms with complimentary internet and newspaper in the morning, plus the nicest starbucks ever in the lobby, great for a lazy morning. The athletic club was a highlight, newly renovated and more fancy equipment than I could ever use. Very convenient location, we hopped on the streetcar for shopping and the light rail to visit our daughter! Overall great experience with great service!
