Nice hotel but the tub didn't drain!
3 of us shared a suite. It was a bit tight, but loved the decor. The bathroom was very small for 3 of us, and the tub really needed some attention since it didn't drain. When we got to the room, they didn't have our towels or supplies there for us so we had to call for those. They didn't restock our in-room coffee supply etc the second day either. Had to call for that. The wine reception is a great idea. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. I would probably stay at another hotel next time, just to compare. The location is perfect!

its like coming home
I always stay at the Monaco (formerly 5th Avenue Suites) when I am Portland on business. It is far better than a business hotel though. I call it coming home. It is very comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and free Starbucks coffee in the mornings and wine tasting 5-6pm (for a small donation) in the lounge give it a point of difference.

Totally Amazing
Although arrangements were made prior to my arrival, I was incredibly pleased with the selection. The hotel is located in the downtown area, close to restaurants, shops, and life. Hotel staff were extremely helpful in recommending places to dine and arranging car service. I had the great fortune of returning to the hotel early one evening to the delight of a wine tasting and martini hour. The rooms are large and decorated with a funky-hip design. I really enjoyed the french doors that seperated the sleeping and sitting areas. The hotel robes are inviting after a hot shower in the huge bathroom which has all the proper aminities; and the bedding was superb!...complete with egyptian sheets. The room service menu options are a wonderful break from the traditional, and the food is delicious. I did not get to experience the spa, but I will next time...and there most certainly will be a next time.

Fabulous
I loved the funky decor, the staff was great, we even received a call the day ahead warning of us the parade route that could cause problems arriving at check in time. Our suite was large and very well stocked with 'additional' items that could save many folks a few trips to a lobby shop. The Red Star was equally excellent.

Beyond Expectations
The 5th Avenue Suites was top notch from the beginning. The front desk welcomed us like a regular customer. They were very friendly and nice. I mentioned our anniversary when I booked the room and we found our room filled with rose pedals on the bed and chilled sparkling white wine in our room(no extra charge). The room was so spacious and unique. The decorations were cool and the bedding was so comfortable. We even had a gold fish named Sasha! The service was great and the morning room service was so good. You are off the main Broadway Chaos but close to everything!!

Great spot in a great town
Went to Portland over the summer and stayed here. Walking distance to shopping and public transportation. Close to the water and good restaurants. The room was quite nice. Loved the sliding door divider which gave us some privacy from my 5 year old daughter. Bathrooms were nice sized and had nice Aveda amenities. Would stay there again.

amazing
I am a very picky consumer and I can't find anything wrong with this place. You are greeted by name consistently, the service is offered before you realize you need/want it.
