Back to Club Fortuna Wouldn't go back Went there with my 2 daughters and my husband and were very disappointed. For starters when we arrived the lobby was overcrowded with luggage from the guests trying to leave. We were tripping over ourselves. After checking in around 2:00 we went to grab something to eat and the buffet was almost empty. Being an all-inclusive resort they should be replenishing the food up until the last minute. So if you don't get to a meal within the first hour don't expect to find the trays full of food. The food was the same every day except they would change the sauces they throw over it. The salad bad was a disgrace having only iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots and tomatoes. The Italian restaurant was nothing to write about either. Celentano's frozen dinners are probably a better meal. The rooms are small and dirty. We had to ask several times for extra towels and toilet paper and the garbage in our room was not emptied once during our 5 night stay. The pool area was just okay. It is what it is. The beach was nice but have been on nicer ones at other resorts in the area. The bar/food area leaves a lot to be desired. If you don't mind being attacked by sea gulls anything you tried to get something to eat on the beach then this is the resort for you.
Reviewed by: TERRI from on Aug 13 2009 We want to go back next year. This is the first time we have gone to the Bahamas. My daughter had a beautiful wedding on the beach. The staff was very respectful and courteous. We enjoyed the beautiful beach and ocean. Our room was very clean and cool. We liked the food. The buffet was well stocked and different selections everyday. The snack bar on the beach had very good fresh hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries and sub sandwiches. There was a beautiful pool also. We will definately plan to go back. It was well worth the money for the all-inclusive price. I look forward to another vacation there .
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 09 2009 Not Impressed My husband and I took our kids 8 and 11 here on vacation. The beach was beautiful!! The pool was so-so, crowded and loud. As the week went on the resort grounds got dirtier and dirtier. People would take plates of food from the restaurants and eat around the pool and no one would clean then up. The main restaurant had the same pasta of the day for three days. The food was not great. If you go snorkeling go directly through the dive shop don't go through the excursionsdesk they totally tries to rip you off. There are people on the beach who try to sell you shirts and hair braiding. I wouldn't think the resort would allow this. A cab driver told us this resort is geared to Europeans and I believe it. Our room was near the disco, loud booming music at 2:30am. My kids can't wait to go back to the Bahamas but we definately won't be going back to the Wyndham.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 08 2009 Love viva wyndham! I am returning in a week to viva wyndham fortuna beach for the 4th time since Januay 07'. I absolutely love it here! no, it is not for everyone but if you are looking to have a great vacation and relax this is the place for you. The food is not the best, but it is edible. The drinks are perfect and the beach is absolutely beautiful. In the 3 times i have been here before I've never had a problem waiting for drinks at the bar, service is always fast and everyone is very friendly. I want to say thank you to David and Quincy for always taking care of us at the bar! Gustavo, Erik, KJ, Soriano, Christan, Jors and Esteban are just a few of the amazing animation staff they have at the Wyndham who make sure you have the best vacation ever!
Reviewed by: dee from on May 21 2009 DONT GO This was the worst hotel at which I have ever stayed. I just returned on Friday and it was the worst experience you could ask for while vacationing. It is not worth the money- in fact I wouldn't go back if they paid me to. The staff was incredible rude and the security guards would purr at you as you walked by. Not only did I not feel safe, many of my travel buddies had money, phone and ipods stolen from their rooms. As we checked out of the hotel they claimed we had broken our bed frame and toilet. We made them show us the damage (knowing we had not done anything) and as we got there they agreed that nothing was wrong with either the toilet or the bed frame. If we had not asked to see the damages they would have charged us absurd amounts of money for the "damages". For those who say you get what you pay for- there are much nicer hotels in the same price range. We did not have a hot or even remotely warm shower our entire stay. Save yourself and go somewhere else.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Mar 15 2009 Amazing This place was great! I read all the reviews before I went and have to say I was skeptical. When we got there, we couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The staff was amazing, especially the trapeze people. Stephie, Megan, Jacy, Dennis, and Jerome couldn't have been any nicer. The snorkeling off the beach was out of this world. The food was good and the drinks were strong! If you are looking for somewhere to go and just reelax...this is the place! The beach is by far the best! It's big and it's beautiful! You have to see it to believe it. Our overall experience was fantastic. You couldn't ask for more for the money, I will definitely go back!
Reviewed by: Cathryn from on Feb 03 2009 Don't waste your money This is one of the worst places I have ever stayed at. The employees are rude, the rooms are dirty, and the cleaning people entered my room without knocking. I paid for a week in advance but felt strongly enough about leaving this place after 2 days that I booked a room at The Westin for the remainder of my stay. I should have read the reviews prior to booking this resort.
Reviewed by: JOHN from on Jan 17 2009 Only a last resort (but not a resort) It's not a bad place, and has some great amenities but some of the staff are completely lacking in the manners department, while others I looked forward to greating me everyday. The food at the Asian restaurant was so bad that we couldn't wait to go next door to the buffet which was pretty good. They were 2 hours late checking us in, no appologies, nothing.
Reviewed by: frugalfilly from on Oct 09 2008 Go there, but don't use the dive shop. This resort is in need of a major upgrade, but was clean and safe. The food was good for a low cost all inclusive. The selection was a little skimpy but food was prepared well and always plenty of fresh fruit. The staff was very helpful and frendly.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 05 2008 Experience of a lifetime! This was the best vacation my family and I had ever been on! At first it seemed pretty controlled by having dinner at specified times and then a show right after that, but I was never bored! The personel at the hotel are the BEST! Although there was no outside contact avalible except for 5 and 10 dollar internet cards it was nice to have a break. I DO NOT suggest you buy a phone card even though they are advertised everywhere. Someone told me there they had a 37 dollar phone bill for making one phone call to the US. This scared me so I stuck to the internet cards. Everything you would need for your vacation is located on this resort a drug store a souvineer shop also a liquior shop. The food givin was awsome if you like fruit and things. They had 2 resturants I perfered the Italin over the Asian. Everything is a 5 course dinner and if you do not like what you ordered then they will gladly bring you something else. The beach grill was very convient when you are laying on the beach and your belly is rumbling. They have Hotdogs, cheeseburgers, and chicken with fries. Then the people that work there put on a show everynight for you! It was alot of fun and the people are so friendly and personable. I cannot wait to go back!
