This hotel is housed within a charming colonial building facing Havana bay, the former Conde de Santovenia Palace. Facing the entrance is a small square full of second-hand booksellers where one can purchase all sorts of classical revolutionary prose, all in perfect condition. The hotel’s rooms are comfortable and lavishly decorated, and it was within this very establishment that Pope John Paul II stayed when he visited the island in 1998. The city’s Catedral (La) is a short walk away.
