Although jazz is not a particularly "German" phenomenon, the country, and Berlin especially, are a haven for jazz lovers. The highlight of Berlin's jazz scene is the annual JazzFest, which attracts some of the biggest names in the business. Over the years, the focus has shifted away from the big American names, but a handful of renowned Americans (such as piano legend Herbie Hancock and sax player Lee Konitz) still perform periodically. A number of experimental and also world music groups - from Klezmer quintets to acid jazz - have been added to the roster.
