Honeymoon spot
Amazing, quiet place for a honeymoon. Paradise. Make sure to get a Painkiller at the main bar. :)

Caneel is Wonderful
I have read many negative reviews of Caneel ranging from safety to service to accommodations. Everyone has their own opinion based on how well their expectations were met (assuming nothing terrible happened!). Caneel is not about being plush or pampering. Caneel is about an environment and group of people that do everything they can do to help a person enjoy the most lush property, most beautiful, fantastic beaches in the Caribbean. My wife and I have been twice in 4 years with this visit the best. Transfers were perfect between St Tomas and Caneel. Room was upgraded (stayed in #2). Champagne was chilled. Beds, AC, fantastic. Staff extremely accommodating. Boat crew was wonderful (we went back and forth to St Thomas 4 times). Breakfast buffet is more than adequate and tasty. Is it the Waldorf? No, and I, my wife, the staff, and the people that return year and after year don't want it to be. It is perfection in a way only Caneel can deliver.

My favorite 5-star
Visited in March '05 and stayed in a beachfront accommodation with an amazing view. The strip of beach was very quiet - we had it to ourselves quite a bit. The cottage style room had nice, elegant furnishings and was very comfortable. The property is amazing and staff is super friendly and accommodating. I loved the town, Cruz Bay, for it's charm. Little of the island is developed - lush and hilly - absolutely beautiful.

Wonderful
PREMIUM BEACH FRONT ROOMS are great. Located right on the the best beach. Loved it!! Remember there are no TV's or phones in your room. Cell phones do work there. The staff was great. Food is not cheap!

Anniversary Trip
My wife and I went here for our anniversary, and we had the greatest vacation yet! The staff was fantastic, the food was great, and it is truly one of those places where there can be a good amount of people on the resort - but, you will never feel crowded. We enjoyed the donkees roaming around the resort (and yes, you will see them on the beach also), the great beaches, and the activities that are offered. The only thing we disliked was the little trip they have to Little Dix Bay in the British V.I...they never really sold the property, so you just kind of wandered about. The trip to the Baths was okay, but I would have preferred staying at Caneel Bay. It's a small dislike, but other than that - we loved it and will go back again and again!

St John is great - Caneel Bay is not
This was our first stay at Caneel after 15 years of visiting St John and staying at the Westin and Gallows Point. The beaches are incredible (probably some of the best on the island - BUT - forget service. Staff was more interested in riding on their golf carts than to help their guests. What they call 'beach service' doesn't exist. Used a courtesy phone to ask they delivery some water and food to the beach (because their 'beach service' cart was nowhere to be seen and an hour and a half later had to call to see why the food and water had not shown up. Were told we should come to get it ourselves because they didn't think it would get to us.... This happened not once but on two days! Very frustrating! We then had to wait for a resort bus, go to the restaurant, order food and beverages, get back on the resort bus and an hour and a half later we were able to eat. Their 'business center' is a joke. Wireless is unreliable - kept knocking us off and was only available at the front desk area. Their business center computers were filled more than half the time with kids playing computer games. So, if you have to keep up with what's going on at the office, you really don't want to stay here... I'll stay next time at the Westin where service is prompt, internet service is reliable and the value is good.

Beach Bliss Isolation
We went in the summer off season and had the best beach experience with almost no one else around. We had a beachfront room and could walk right out of our room onto the beach. This place is pricy but I think worth every penny. It is gorgeous and St. John is my favorite tropical location of anywhere.

Absolutely TERRIBLE
My husband and I were on our honeymoon at Caneel Bay beginning on October 30, 2005. We were scheduled to stay until November 5th. We made it to Tuesday, November 1st. That was the absolute worst trip I have ever been on in my life.
