Back to Westward Look Resort Very nice throughout except... The staff was wonderful throughout the entire facility. The food and service in the GOLD was outstanding. The room was nice. My only complaint is there was a foul smell in our room. We loved everything else, including the beautiful grounds.
Reviewed by: John from on Jun 14 2009 Great experience, even in mid-summer We got great rates because it's the middle of summer, but despite the sizzling temperatures, we truly enjoyed our stay. Westward Look has alot of character, friendly staff, & beautiful grounds. The food at both the Gold Room and the Lookout Bar & Grille was wonderful. We really enjoyed the hummingbird path and the delightful Chef's Garden. Birds and wildlife are plentiful. The staff was very accommodating when we requested a more accessible room for our elderly father who was travelling with us. The spa experience was fabulous. Cute gift shop, and the place is family friendly. We'll definitely be back!
Reviewed by: Kate from on Jul 19 2008 Great Getaway We wanted a weekend escape. This resort was easy to get to, and while it is undergoing renovation, the "old" rooms are still well kept and clean with lots of character. We asked for a newly renovated room but were told none were available. Our room had great beds. We had a great time with our kids playing in the lower pool, which was clean with nice towels and even pool toys provided. We loved walking the scenic trail around the property which was well lit with path lights and lots of interesting cactii and other desert plants and even a really cool maze laid out with stones for the kids to walk in. The al fresco dining at the main building had excellent food and service. I highly recommend for an economical Tucson getaway. While the resort doesn't have the polish and glitz of a Hyatt, and the buildings look like old apartment buildings from the outside, everything else was terrific.
Reviewed by: C.W from on Jun 15 2008 Beautiful experience! I really loved the Westward Look Resort, and it really exceeded my expectations. The grounds are simply gorgeous, so well-maintained and peaceful, and I found all of the staff there to be friendly, helpful, and courteous.
Reviewed by: John from on Jan 05 2008 Great experience This place is great. It is located on approx 80 acres in the foothills of the mountains. Beautiful landscaped property, spacious comfortable rooms with great views of the city below and the mountains surrounding. This resort has everything to offer from recreation (tennis, horseback riding, nature walks, lap pool, fitness room),Spa, poolside cafe & bar, two great restaurants very reasonably priced with live entertainment most nights. The Gold Room offers fine dining and nightly specials. The grill is a fun and casual place to go and serves good food with the option of dining under the stars. (Don't leave Tucson without eating at Cafe Poco Coso. It is the best authentic Mexican food you will ever have.)
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 24 2007 Nice Place - Great Service Attended a Conference at the Hotel in April and was very pleased with level of outstanding service at the hotel. I arrived from Australia and was able to book straight into my room, my spa reservation was waiting, it was a terrific experience.
Reviewed by: Rip Stylier from on Sep 20 2007 We Had FUN! The Westward Look Resort was great. The staff was so very friendly - from the hosekeeping staff to the front desk. It's such a joy to see smiling faces when we just came from the hustle and bustle of San Frnacisco. The location was supurb - a great way to truly capture the charm of Tucson. If you are looking for a new, luxurious resort (and an extra $100+ dollars/day) go to the other resorts further east on Skyline. If you want a great atmosphere, lovely service, picturesque grounds, relaxed atmosphere, delicious cuisine and larger rooms - you HAVE to come here. My boyfriend, who is so darn picky, loved this place. I am actually from Tucson and stayed here for my high school reunion. I wanted a good deal but at the same time I wanted to show my discriminating other half that Tucson could be just as beautiful as Norther California. We had the pleasure of hanging out at the pool (a little small but fun), experiencing the beauty of a late-night monsoon in a perfect desert landscape and having the best breakfast with a great view of Tucson and the surrounding mountains. Book directly with the hotel's web site for the best rates. We will stay here again and despite the older conditions of the resort, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the service, scenery, atmosphere, views and gracious feel of the Westward Look far outweighed the fact that it wasn't plush and posh....but absolutely comfortable. I give it 5 stars in the way that I think it counts; great memories.
Reviewed by: lovestoshop from on Sep 08 2007 Perfection! Inovative food, combined with exceptional service. We have never been disapointed. The dining is lovely with fabulous vista views. Certainly a perfect spot for a special occasion. The Sunday Brunch we a highlight, with soft live guitar, and menu selections as opposed to buffet.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 20 2007 What a Place!!! This was one of the best vacations I have ever had! The rooms were large and clean. The grounds were amazing! It was a wonderful experience.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 05 2007 Mixed reaction The towels were fluffy and great, the pillows were terrible. The view from our room was fabulous, the restaurant service was pretty awful. The room was nice, the patio furniture was cheap. The staff was very nice, but they tried to explain away the poor experience we had at both the Gold Room and the Lookout Bar and Grill. Strolling around the resort was pleasant and I enjoyed the horseback ride with the sweetest wrangler who gave me a tour and recited his own cowboy poetry, which was charming. We'd go back again, but we wouldn't even try to eat there.
