Where To Stay

add to Travel Bag (NEW)

For a city not noted for being tourist-perfect, Shenyang enjoys a surprisingly extensive list of lodging options. Guests can choose from glamorously epicurean five stars to what-do-you-mean-hot-water-costs-extra two stars. Most loom conveniently near or in downtown’s main business district. In-house restaurants can be expected in just about every hotel.

Locating a room is generally not a problem. Options diminish, however, during major holidays such as the Spring Festival (January), the Lantern Festival (February), and the Mid-Autumn Festival (October). Advanced reservations during these big bashes are strongly suggested. Unlike the coastal cities, Shenyang’s hotel rates do not wildly fluctuate with the seasons.

For sheer five star extravagance snatch a room at the Marriott Shenyang. Perfectly located only seven miles from the airport and directly adjacent to downtown’s Foreign Joint Venture Office, it offers the kind of shameless pampering normally only enjoyed by British royalty and owners of very, very large computer software companies. Besides all of the expected amenities, its Mikado restaurant is considered as the number one Japanese eatery in all of Shenyang. Or, instead opt for the city’s freshest five star, the Sheraton Shenyang Lido Hotel. Close proximity to the Shenyang International Exhibition Center and the Shenyang Botanical Garden makes it the laudable choice of both vacationers and the business populace.

For a drop in price, four-star lodging abounds. The centrally located Hotel Inter-Continental Shenyang adheres to the motto "We know what it takes," and most guests do not dispute them on this. Five restaurants, including Lombardi’s Fine Pizza and Grill, and an indoor golf driving range lend it the mindset of a vacation resort. The Holiday Inn City Center Shenyang steadfastly adheres to its name by presenting guests with a city center location. "Do Not Miss and Remember to Bring a Camera" type attractions are close at hand including the Imperial Palace and the North Tomb. And as an added bonus, its bilingual staff narrows the communication gap by also speaking English and Japanese. The New World Courtyard, Shenyang’s first international four-star hotel, offers spacious suites and free rates for kids under 13. Business folk especially enjoy its walking distance proximity to the rail station and less than five minute access to the Liaoning Industrial Exhibition Hall. Traders packs 588 rooms, including suites with butler service, into its swank confines, while the Gloria Plaza offers 23 floors of "I-feel-so-special" type rooms, located in the center of Shenyang’s business district. Guests at the Green Hotel enjoy just-out-the-lobby-door quickness to the rail station and to Shenyang’s commercial district. And The Time Plaza with its 500 plus conference room makes it big with companies sponsoring business meetings.

If the budget is not geared for opulent amenities Shenyang also offers plenty of three star nuggets. Downtown’s Rose Hotel abides directly in the business district and offers quick access to the Imperial Palace. The Shenyang Huangcheng Hotel is located just south of downtown, close to Zhongshan Park, offering city accessibility, yet in a quieter setting. Downtown’s Grand National Hotel with its three restaurants and just-minutes-away proximity to the Shenyang Nanhu Development Zone earn high marks from the business community. And if downtown lodging is of no concern grab a room key at the Phoenix Hotel. Situated north of downtown it affords walking distance access to mind calming Beiling Park, Shenyang’s largest, and to the famous North Tomb. Despite its “downtown remoteness," it compensates with such on-site convenience amenities as a shopping center, a bookshop, a nightclub and several restaurants ranging from Chinese to Russian.

If traveling needs require nothing but a bed the two star Postal Tower Hotel offers double rooms for as low as CNY90. Quick access to the North Rail Station makes it popular with guests just passing through. Or for a guaranteed clean room with guaranteed friendly service opt for the Meisan Hotel.
