Where To Stay

add to Travel Bag (NEW)

Zaragoza, a service-industry town, offers every visitor an appropriate range of hotels, both for quality and variety. It enjoys a well-deserved reputation for both the hospitality of its people and the excellence of its infrastructures. Events diverse in character and magnitude (conventions, exhibitions, fairs) have testified to this fact in recent years.

As far as tourism is concerned, it is no minor destination. Being a link between Madrid and Barcelona, given the richness of its historical legacy, and for the possibilities it offers for shopping and its attractive nightlife, the city is a must for tourists visiting Spain. So let’s have a look at some of its many hotels, bearing in mind the different customers each lodging suits.

Zona Centro (Centre)
Both for those in town for pleasure and those coming on business, in Plaza de España—the very heart of the city and its surrounding area, there is an extraordinary choice of hotels. You might want to try the new and elegant Hotel Silken Reino de Aragón, the traditional Hotel Husa Rey Alfonso I, or the more sober Hotel Maza. All of them are very well communicated, since most of the city’s bus lines have stops in the area.

If you prefer a quiet street in Zona Centro, instead of a main avenue, on either side of Paseo Independencia you’ll find comfortable hotels, like the Palafox, the city’s only five star, the historic and luxuriant building of the NH Gran Hotel, the modern and well-balanced Hotel Husa Don Yo and the sought-after Hotel Goya. We can also include here Hotel Meliá Zaragoza. These and those mentioned before, with the exception of the Maza, have halls suitable for business conventions and meetings as well as celebrations and banquets.

Considering the old part of town, in Plaza del Pilar itself you will find four hotels of different category, price, decoration and age. They are Hotel Tibur, a three star; Hotel Las Torres, Hostal Ambos Mundos and Hostal Plaza, all of them bearing two stars. The difference between the denominations hotel and hostal depends on certain features such as having an independent entrance, width of the corridors and number of rooms; nevertheless, some hostales are as comfortable as medium-range hotels.

Old Town
As you walk along the charming narrow streets of the old town, or 'casco antiguo' as it is popularly known, you will find the peculiar and lovable Hotel Sauce, with its individual decoration in each room, the modern Hotel El Príncipe, and just opposite, Hostal Santiago, slightly older and cheaper.

If you are looking for a central location with the added advantage of being near the Madrid-Barcelona bus station, there are several options: Hotel Conquistador and Hostal Paraíso have this advantage. At an acceptable distance are Hotel Gran Vía and Hotel Zaragoza Royal, both most suitable for both tourists and business people. Both are very near El Corte Inglés and the distinguished shopping area of Paseo de las Damas and its surroundings. Here we can mention Hotel Boston, for its 'intelligent' technology, services and remarkable offer of suites and rooms that make it a favourite among celebrities, professional sports people and other socially relevant personalities.

Other Neighbourhoods
The so-called Zona Centro and the old town contain the greatest number of hotels, but in other parts, with more open spaces and different assets, there are many to choose from. In the neighbourhood of La Romareda, very near the most important hospitals, the football stadium and the Palacio de Congresos, you have Hotel Green Romareda. In the same radius, a bit further from the city centre, there are very functional hotels much appreciated by businessmen: NH Sport, NH Orús, and Cesaraugusta III. All three are very near El Portillo train station. And if you are attracted to the Delicias neighbourhood, the aforementioned three, Hotel Delicias or the small and cheap Hostal Aybar could be the best options.

Finally, and as an offer not to be neglected in a city which boasts 3231 rooms and 5991 beds among three, four and five-star hotels only, we must mention a few of the hotels in the outskirts of town, in various directions: Hotel Restaurante El Águila on the road to Logroño; Hotel Aragón on the n-II heading towards Lérida; Hotel Restaurante Las Galias on the Zaragoza-Huesca road and the famous Hotel Casino de Zaragoza, in the village of Alfajarín, on the road to Barcelona, a favourite for those who enjoy casinos with all the trappings of tradition.

This is just a tiny representation of the lodging possibilities offered by Zaragoza, a modern and welcoming city, ever evolving in new efforts to provide visitors with comfort, good taste, magnificent service and good prices.
