The local mail boat, The Fiesta, provides service between Nassau and Grand Bahama Island four times a week and the trip takes six to seven hours, depending on the weather. For more information, contact their offices at ( 242 ) 352 8468 in Freeport and ( 242 ) 328 0832 in Nassau.

Transportation by private boat or plane is also possible.

By car:


Renting a car is a convenient way for you and a group of your friends or family to explore more of the island on your own time.

By motor scooter:

Motor scooters are available for rental at many of the most popular tourist centers. Renting a motor scooter gives you and a passenger the freedom to buzz around town and the countryside looking for that perfect, quiet beach spot.

By Bicycle:

In the Lucaya area, there is an official cycling path on Midshipman Road. Most hotels have bicycles for rent— USD 20 per day with a USD 50 deposit.

Keep in mind that British rules apply on the road.
