Many hotels offer transportation services to and from the airport. Bus No. 83 offers service from the airport to the city. Taxis offer services from the airport to your final destination, but negotiate a price prior to embarking.

By Bus

Bus services are offered to Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. However, due to political turmoil, routes are often disrupted and therefore inadvisable for non-intrepid travelers.

By Car

It is possible to access Guatemala by the Interamerican Highway. Be advised that travelers sometimes encounter difficulties while crossing borders. Watch your belongings carefully and do not be surprised if a bribe is requested.

Getting Around

Guatemala City has a reasonably effective local bus system. Some of the most common bus lines include the 82, the 83, and the 101. Taxis can be found throughout the city. Be sure to negotiate a price before embarking on your journey. Travel after nightfall is considered dangerous and inadvisable.
