Dramatic architectural renderings of massive buildings constructed out of ice and snow are an annual February tradition during the Sapporo Snow Festival. Each year huge replicas made out of snow attract visitors from near and far.

Sapporo is also home to Japan's major breweries, including Kirin, Asahi, and Sapporo. Although Sapporo is the fifth largest city in Japan, it is nevertheless considered a favorite pastoral destination among the Japanese.
