Rio is home to the world-famous "Christ the Redeemer" statue, a 30-meter ( 98-foot ) tall idol of Jesus Christ that overlooks the city from Corcovado Mountain. It is regarded as one of the seven wonders of the modern world. The statue was created by French sculptor Paul Landowski.
