add to Travel Bag (NEW)

Dubai is an international city and it offers a lively after-dark scene. Bars, pubs and lounges are plentiful and most serve food and offer entertainment. Dubai increasingly attracts popular singers and entertainers from both the West and the East.

Stage plays from London routinely make the Dubai circuit, as do major dance groups, ballet and opera companies from Europe and Asia. Dubai also has its fair share of museums and local cultural attractions.

Dubai also has some of the best shopping in the world. From clothes to jewelry to electronics to traditional items, Dubai has great products. The key is to bargain.

Bars and Pubs

Being that golf is one of the most tempting reasons to visit Dubai, golfers will find plenty of watering holes tailored to them, such as 19th Hole in the Hyatt Regency’s Golf Park. For a more adventurous and cultural evening, visit African Star, where you can enjoy African drums, Ethiopian food, and local bands. Inside the Mayfair Hotel, you can find The Sundowner, a great place to unwind, play games like pool and video games, and test your voice out with their karaoke machine. And finally, it’s not hard to find a place to dance in Dubai. Premier Discotheque is aptly named as it attracts the upper crust of Dubai’s youth. It’s great for people watching and dancing, but like most clubs in Dubai, you must be 21 to enter.

Museums

An interesting mix of cultural education and shopping is the Heritage & Diving Village, which simultaneously teaches visitors about times past in Dubai and operates as a craft fair. If you truly do want to learn about local life, you’ll want to develop an understand of Islam, which you can do at the Sharjah Islamic Museum. For history specific to Dubai’s recent past, check out the H.H. Sheikh Saeed House. It served as the seat of government during part of the 20th century, the reign of the current Sheikh’s grandfather. Being on the shores of a large river known as The Creek, Dubai’s history is full of boat culture. You can learn about this part of the city’s history at Narish Khyma, the boat museum.

Shopping

Dubai is world-renowned for its shopping malls, which take relaxation and atmosphere seriously. No matter which you choose to shop in, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the planning and execution of the amenities. Best known for its gold and diamond jewelry is Hamarain Centre. For competitive prices a relaxing indoor waterfall, check out the Jumeirah Centre. The newest mall in a Dubai is the five-star, luxury, one-stop shopping facility, Warba Centre.
