Rafting on Toachi and Blanco Rivers

start date: 2008-09-23
end date: 2008-12-13

Both the Rio Toachi and Rio Blanco start high in the Andean cloud forests thundering their way west towards the tropical rainforest along the Ecuadorian Coast. The Rio Blanco is named for it's continuous and thunderous white-capped rapids that provide rafters with constant thrills year around.

You depart from Quito to the Santo Domingo area. You descend for 2.5 hours through Andean cloud forest. You reach our put-in near the town of Santo Domingo and after a safety briefing, you navigate up to 18 miles of the best whitewater east of the Andes!

Depending on water levels, your rafting adventure should take about three to four hours. On your way you will encounter an abundance of bird life, and possibly spot a family of the Southern River Otter. You enjoy a delicious lunch on the river; as well as a cold beer at the end of your run... then you head back to Quito arriving to the city in the late afternoon.
