Midnight Sun at the Arctic Circle and Santa Claus Safari

start date: 2008-07-26
end date: 2008-07-28

Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, situated at the Arctic Circle is also known as the home of Santa Claus. It is a perfect place to see the Midnight Sun. During this tour you will experience the land of the everlasting day. In the middle of the summer the sun doesn't set at all.

The trip starts with a train to Rovaniemi. From the station you will be transferred to the hotel. In the evening you will enjoy the summer scenery on a cruise on the River Kemijoki in a traditional riverboat. Your guide will prepare you a typical Finnish meal in the middle of the nature.

The Midnight Sun will then be admired from the top of Ounasvaara Hill. While the peace and quiet will en-gulf you, you will toast with a glass of sparkling wine for the magical Lappish white night.

The next day you are welcome to visit the home of a Lappish family and their Workshop. You will also visit a local Reindeer cottage, where you will learn about Lappish culture and reindeer rearing. At the Reindeer cottage you will also participate in a ceremony of crossing the Arctic Circle. Lappish style lunch will be served in there. In the afternoon awaits a visit to the Santa Claus Village, where you meet Mr. Santa Claus himself, and you have a chance to do some shopping. After visiting Santa Claus Village you will have free time to enjoy Rovaniemi on your own. Your flight back to Helsinki departs in the evening.
