Naarden and 17th-Century Estates Half-Day Trip from Amsterdam

start date: 2008-10-17
end date: 2009-10-27

Leave Amsterdam for the morning on a leisurely Sunday-morning visit to the fortified city of Naarden and its surrounding 17th-century estates.
Your guided excursion begins with a visit to the beautiful fortified city of Naarden, with its history of bloody sieges. The well-preserved fortress has a unique 12-pointed star design, completed after the Spanish massacre in the 16th century.

From Naarden, you'll drive through the Dutch polders and the 'Gooi', known as the Gardens of Amsterdam, to the River De Vecht. The beautiful estates and castles you'll see were popular retreats for the wealthy during the 17th century.

During the trip you'll stop for coffee and apple pie, included in the tour price.
